___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ELA - Ms. Montgomery We're kicking off week 5 by introducing two new weekly routines: reading logs and Greek/Latin Root Words. This week's root words are all about water. We will also be jumping into a discussion of characterization (direct and indirect) in conjunction with the short story "The Goodness of Matt Kaizer." As a class we'll look for examples of characterization while we read and then use those examples to illustrate how Matt has changed over the course of the story. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Math - Mr. Collins This week and math we will bring our journey of identifying and applying prime factorization to find the Greatest Common Factor to a close and begin our exploration of elements of using distributive for finding the GCF. As a visual representation students will engage in writing and evaluating distributive property to model both composing and decomposing the area of a rectangle. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Science- Ms. Parker Now that we have learned our basic lab procedures and how to conduct a scientific investigation safely, we have begun our first Unit learning about Matter. Students have discovered what matter is made up of and are currently working on an in-class project with a partner. Students are researching an element and will be presenting an advertisement for their element to the class on Tuesday. We will then be taking a look at the effects of heat on different types of matter.
If your student is absent, they should be completing the lesson each day from Canvas. Please contact me if you have questions.
Classroom Supplies needed please: Rolls of paper towels, Clorox wipes. We use a lot of these items for lab clean up and I currently am about to run out. Thank you. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Social Studies - Ms. Crosson Greeting Aggie students and parents! This week we will learn about the different types of social scientists and how they help us understand what happened long, long ago. Then, we will begin our journey into the past by learning about early humans and the evolution theory about how they became us. To be the greatest students we can possibly be, remember to bring your charged computer and school supplies daily. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
