Hello and welcome to Week 29! We're in Quarter 3: Facing Challenges. This unit asks us, "when should we stand up for other and ourselves?" We will continue discovering our answers with the start of our novel study, "Tangerine" by Edward Bloor. We're wrapping up Part Two discussing concepts like point-of-view, conflict, summarization techniques and symbolism. We are continuing with our Greek/Latin Root Words and have officially started book two! That means we're on Unit 3: "Earth, Wind & Fire." As always, we're working on our reading stamina with 10 minutes, daily, of free reading. Absences- If a student is absent, they are responsible for making up all missed work in a timely manner. This can be done through Canvas. There is a message on our Canvas homepage with specific directions on what to do when absent. Please make sure your student comes to class every day with their ELA folder, a charged Chromebook and their Chromebook charging cord. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Math - Mr. Collins

My students will write an algebraic expression to represent real world situations and match algebraic and verbal expressions. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Science- Ms. Parker
Students are learning about rocks and the rock cycle. They will be able to explain how the formation of soil is related to the parent rock type and the environment in which it develops. We are doing a lot of exciting hands on investigations which are very messy! With that being said, if you are able to send in some containers of Chlorox wipes, it would be much appreciated! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Social Studies - Ms. Crosson This week we will explore the Golden Age of Asia. We will learn about how the Mongols conquered their huge empire. We will learn about the prominent leader Genghis Khan and his grandson Kublai. We will then take time to review world geography so that we can keep our skills sharp! Also, we will have our annual career day this week. We will explore different careers that are available in our community. Finally, we will finish our week with a cross curricular activity day. We will learn about the “Space Race” in all of our team classes while participating in rigorous and meaningful activities.
