Hello and welcome to Week 19! It's our second week back from Winter Break and we'll begin our 3rd unit of the school year: Facing Challenges. This unit asks us, "when should we stand up for other and ourselves?" We begin discovering our answers with the help of an excerpt from "The Circuit" by Francisco Jimenez. We are continuing with our Greek/Latin Root Words and start Unit 14: "Four, Five & Six." As always, we're working on our reading stamina with 10 minutes, daily, of free reading Absences- If a student is absent, they are responsible for making up all missed work in a timely manner. This can be done through Canvas. There is a message on our Canvas homepage with specific directions on what to do when absent. Please make sure your student comes to class every day with their ELA folder, a charged Chromebook and their Chromebook charging cord. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Math - Mr. Collins
This week in math, we will continue to explore concepts of decimal operations. Students will focus on decimal placement for adding and subtracting and will focus on creating models for multiplication and division computations. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Science- Ms. Parker
We are journeying through the Solar System! This week we will be doing some “missions” to see what astronauts do, how to live in space, and space travel. Students will also be researching planets as part of a group project that will be presented to the class. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Social Studies - Ms. Crosson This week we will analyze what we learned by the river valley civilizations! In order to successfully do this, we will work on our performance task that is designed for determining the mastery of the standards covered. This will take at least 3 days to complete. If time permits, we will also complete missing assignments and get extra help that we may need to be successful this school year.
Reminders: -Wear your mask correctly (above the nose and below the chin) - Bring a fully charged laptop to school every day in addition to the basic school supplies -Keep your personal area clean and sanitized - Check Power School for your grades and to see if you need to make up any missing assignments ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
