Hello and welcome to Week 25! We're in Quarter 3: Facing Challenges. This unit asks us, "when should we stand up for other and ourselves?" We will continue discovering our answers with the start of our novel study, "Tangerine" by Edward Bloor. We're through Part One and into the best parts of Part Two. We are continuing with our Greek/Latin Root Words and start Unit 19: "Oh, The Places You'll Go." As always, we're working on our reading stamina with 10 minutes, daily, of free reading Absences- If a student is absent, they are responsible for making up all missed work in a timely manner. This can be done through Canvas. There is a message on our Canvas homepage with specific directions on what to do when absent. Please make sure your student comes to class every day with their ELA folder, a charged Chromebook and their Chromebook charging cord. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Math - Mr. Collins

Also, they will use a number line to represent the sum of positive and negative integers. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Science- Ms. Parker
We have journeyed to the center of the Earth and discovered lots of amazing things about the Earth’s interior. This week, we will be using puzzles, simulations, and diagrams to investigate how interactions of constructive and destructive forces have resulted in changes in the surface of the Earth over time. AGAIN – IF YOUR CHILD IS ABSENT- They are responsible for making up all classwork and assignments in a timely manner as important content is being missed. It can all be found on Canvas and all students know how to access the material. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Social Studies - Ms. Crosson This week we will explore the Mesoamerican civilizations (Olmec, Aztec, Maya, Inca). We will learn about how the geography of the region provided the perfect environment for successful civilizations. We will also learn about the culture and achievements of each civilization. To end our journey through the Mesoamerican civilizations, we will learn about how and why each of the empires evolved into the modern day countries in the region.
