Hello and welcome to Week 32! We're officially in Quarter 4: Our Heroes where the unit asks us, "what does it mean to be a hero?" We will continue discovering our answers with the continuation of our novel study, "Tangerine" by Edward Bloor. We wrapped up Part Two before Spring Break, discussing concepts such as point-of-view, conflict, summarization techniques and symbolism. During Part Three we'll be drawing connections between the novel, ourselves and the greater world. We'll also be looking at Paul and his actions through a heroic lens. We are continuing with our Greek/Latin Root Words and have officially started book two! That means we're on Unit 6: "From Beginning to End." As always, we're working on our reading stamina with 10 minutes, daily, of free reading. Absences- If a student is absent, they are responsible for making up all missed work in a timely manner. This can be done through Canvas. There is a message on our Canvas homepage with specific directions on what to do when absent. Please make sure your student comes to class every day with their ELA folder, a charged Chromebook and their Chromebook charging cord. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Math - Mr. Collins
This week we will engage in an extensive review of our Algebraic Expressions unit before taking the end of unit assessment. This includes order of operations, combining like terms and distributive property. Also, students will be taking the End of year district math benchmark on Friday to provide us with valuable data as we prepare to finish the year. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Science- Ms. Parker
