Hello and welcome to Week 22! We're in Quarter 3: Facing Challenges. This unit asks us, "when should we stand up for other and ourselves?" We will continue discovering our answers with the start of our novel study, "Tangerine" by Edward Bloor. We are continuing with our Greek/Latin Root Words and start Unit 16: "The Nature of the Beast." As always, we're working on our reading stamina with 10 minutes, daily, of free reading Absences- If a student is absent, they are responsible for making up all missed work in a timely manner. This can be done through Canvas. There is a message on our Canvas homepage with specific directions on what to do when absent. Please make sure your student comes to class every day with their ELA folder, a charged Chromebook and their Chromebook charging cord. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Math - Mr. Collins
This week we will review all four decimal operations and long division and will take a practice assessment on Tuesday. We will use that data to further review and prepare a cumulative assessment at the end of the week. This will bring unit 4 to a close while our students prepare for more rigorous 6th grade math concepts to come. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Science- Ms. Parker
Students have been working on their Planet Projects in groups. This week, students will complete the project and set up a classroom display for their classmates to gather information from. We will also take a look at the Space Race and how rockets work. Students will get to try and launch simple rockets outside at the end of the week. This will also be a good way to review experimental variables and data collection. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Social Studies - Ms. Crosson This week we will continue our journey through unit 3: The Early Diaspora by learning about the kingdoms of North and West Africa.
