Hello and welcome to Week 9! This week we'll continue with our Greek/Latin Root Words and start Unit 6: "A Time and A Place." We'll continue working on suspenseful writing and how we use mood within our writing to create a certain atmosphere for our reader. As always, we're working on our reading stamina with 10 minutes, daily, of free reading. Absences- If a student is absent, they are responsible for making up all missed work in a timely manner. This can be done through Canvas. There is a message on our Canvas homepage with specific directions on what to do when absent. Please make sure your student comes to class every day with their ELA folder, a charged Chromebook and their Chromebook charging cord. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Math - Mr. Collins
This week in math we will transfer our knowledge of Ratio tables to the introduction of unit rates. Our students will understand how to use unit rates in comparisons and to determine which deal is a better buy and engage in activities that consist of unit rates and constant speed. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Science- Ms. Parker
Hard to believe we are at the end of the first quarter already! We have started our second Unit – Thermal Energy and Waves. This Unit has a lot of very new content for our 6th graders so hopefully they will enjoy learning about how we hear, how we see, and how energy is transferred. It is very important for missing work to be made up from Canvas if a student is absent!
This Unit has a lot of hands on activities and labs. Our classroom is in need of Chlorox Wipes and rolls of paper towels if you are able to send some in. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Social Studies - Ms. Crosson
Greetings Aggie students and parents! We have officially started unit 2. In this unit, we will explore the river valley civilizations (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Indus Valley, China). Our goal is to understand the foundations of advance civilization and its influence on our society today. This week, we will be focusing on the city-states of the Fertile Crescent. As we journey through the historic civilizations of Sumer, Babylon & Akkad, we will learn about how we share many of the same characteristics of what it means to be a civilized society.
Reminders: -Wear your mask correctly (above the nose and below the chin) - Bring a fully charged laptop to school every day in addition to the basic school supplies -Keep your personal area clean and sanitized - Check Power School for your grades and to see if you need to make up any missing assignments ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
